Prices
Prices here are quoted in British pounds sterling (£) (GBP). If you prefer you can have an invoice in euros (€). Therefore payment can be made directly into either currency accounts. The rate of exchange will be taken from the internet at the time of issuing the pro-forma invoice.
Payments
I require a deposit of one hundred pounds sterling or euros for each room booked. The balance of payment should be made 42 nights (six weeks) prior to arrival. If your booking is within six weeks of your arrival date, then full payment is required immediately.
Cancellation
If you wish to cancel your booking you may do so up to sixty days prior to your arrival date without penalty and anything you have paid will be returned to you less any bank charges. After this date the deposit will be forfeit. If cancellation is received less than 42 nights prior to your arrival the whole or part of the rental payment recieved may be forfeit depending on whether it is possible to re-book the room(s). Every effort will be made to do so.
Arrival in Venice
Arrival: I will email you a map with directions / suggestions to get to the house. In all probability I'll meet you in person when you get here. If I am unavailable, I will designate someone else to do so who will show you your room(s), expain everything to need to know and, give you the front door key.
Departure / Check-out: Your room needs to be vacated by 10am so my cleaner has time to clean should there be other guests arriving..
- If you have a very early plane/train to catch please contact me so I can tell you where to leave the front door key.
- If you're planning to leave straight after breakfast please leave the front door key with Alina.
- If you want to leave Venice later in the day, it's probably ok to leave your luggage in the hall, but I still need the front door key and we need to see if we can find a suitable time for you to collect your luggage.
Children
It has always been a pleasure to have children in the house, but I do need to warn you that given the number of antiques about which are fragile it is not the most suitable house for children as breakages can occur. It is not question of cost of repair but being able to repair things. Also the surfaces are all hard, marble, terrazzo or wood which can be slippery and injurious to small children.
Tourist Tax
Please note that as of August 24, 2011, the Municipality of Venice introduced a "Tourist Tax".
The tax applies to non-residents of the City of Venice and is chargeable up to and including the first five nights of consecutive stay in Venice. As your host I am responsible for the collection of this tax and remittance to the Comune di Venezia.
The tax is € 5.00 (five euros), per person, per night.
The tax must be paid in cash in euros upon your arrival to me or my respresentative.
It would your save time if you could email me a photo of your main passport page in advance so I can process the information required by the police. if you are uncomfortable with that, we can do this on arrival.
Smoking
As an ex-smoker myself I appreciate that people like a cigarette sometimes. I'm sorry however I do not allow smoking in the house, but it is perfectly acceptable in the garden.

- Preferably you should make your payment via bank transfer. Please note that you are responisble for all bank charges involved in the transfer of funds.
- You can also pay via PayPal, but in this case there is an additional charge of 5% on the basic rental fee which will be reflected on the pro-forma invoice.
